101 Things To Do In Memphis #69: Memphis Redbirds Baseball Games

by Melissa Thompson

Catching a Memphis Redbirds game is a must on your summer to-do list! Visit AutoZone Park to cheer for our very own Triple-A team, the Redbirds. Come to the game for baseball, the scenery, the food, fireworks, meet the mascot - Rockey the Rockin’ Redbird, a recently renovated ballpark with all the bells and whistles, plus watch future MLB stars in action.

New this year: new logo and a rooftop garden at the ballpark, plus Rendezvous BBQ nachos are back.

The culinary experience at AutoZone Park is the exact definition of extraordinary. They have all the original fan favorites: hot dogs, popcorn, pizza, burgers, sodas and beer. On top of that you can enjoy grilled veggie dogs, chef-carved roast beef wrap and a BBQ baked potato... the little extras that make all the difference. Don’t forget the drinks! In addition to beer, adults can enjoy wine by the glass and frozen margaritas at the Redbirds Roost Third Base Bar.

Here are some of the ongoing promo nights the Memphis Redbirds baseball team will host this year during home games.

  • Tuesday Hot Dog Nights: $1 King Cotton hot dogs for sale
  • Thirsty Thursday / College Nights: Fans 21+ can enjoy $2 draft beers, plus college students with valid student ID can purchase $5 Left Field Bluff tickets at the Box Office (must be purchased in person)
  • All-You-Can-Eat Thursdays: Special tickets allow you access to a buffet every Thursday. They have different themes, like crawfish, burgers, tacos, etc.
  • Saturday Postgame Fireworks: Fireworks at the end of every Saturday home game, plus on Monday, July 3
  •  Ice Cream Sundays: The first 2,500 kids age 12 and under will receive a free ice cream treat, courtesy of Prairie Farms Dairy.

Come to the game for baseball, the scenery, the food, fireworks, meet the mascot - Rockey the Rockin’ Redbird, a recently renovated ballpark with all the bells and whistles, plus watch future MLB stars in action.

Here's the lowdown on the 2015 season.

Auto Zone Park has been renovated with a brand-new playing field, a state-of-the-art press box and HD video boards, a BBQ-themed food area, two new "bluffs" in the main seating bowl and an all-inclusive club in right field. Post-game fireworks at every Saturday home game, plus the Friday, July 3rd game. Block Parties in the plaza before every Friday game starting two hours before the first pitch, with live music and beer specials. Kids under 2 who will sit on a parent's lap can get in for free. The Redbirds also plan to announce different promotions and giveaways throughout the season.

The culinary experience at AutoZone Park is the exact definition of extraordinary. They have all the original fan favorites: hot dogs, popcorn, pizza, burgers, sodas and beer. With all the comforts and innovations of a ballpark for the future it still reminds fans of America's pastime and its rich history. There is something for everyone! Visit the website to see the schedule, purchase tickets and additional information.
