101 Things To Do In Memphis #57: Germantown Commissary

by Melissa Hayes Thompson

Once a country store peddling everything from blue jeans to bologna, Germantown Commissary now offers some of the best barbecue around in the tiny building it calls home. The Germantown Commissary looks pretty much like you would expect any commissary to look like: old wooden chairs on the front porch, train tracks nearby, and creaky wooden floors as you open the door.

The commissary cooks the old-time, Memphis-style BBQ way that locals have been enjoying for over 25 years. Besides favorites like the pulled pork and ribs, they prepare many pies and cakes, Brunswick stew, hot tamales, shrimp, and deviled eggs.

The Commissary also has a full or self-service catering menu that is sure to please your guests! All BBQ catering includes meat, beans and slow.  Memphis BBQ catering is the best way to please the party! Sit back and enjoy your next event and leave the work to the Commissary!

It's also easy to enjoy the taste and spirit of Memphis BBQ wherever you are with their delivery service. Tell them what you want and they'll pack it in dry ice and FedEx it to you lickety-split. Don’t forget to include some of your favorite sauces, rubs, t-shirts and aprons!

Visit their website or call 901.754.5540 for additional information! Nothing says Memphis cuisine like some good BBQ!
